C

Ceiling

A limit on how far the pool can grow; the amount boundary in a must-drop description.

Contribution

The fixed amount added to an eligible round's stake for the optional feature; money committed, not a personal balance.

Contribution rate

The slice of each qualifying entry that feeds the pool; the 2 pence in the worked example is our assumption, not a published rate.

Jackpot

A named prize whose trigger, eligibility and size are defined in a game’s rules.

Must-drop

A jackpot awarded by a deadline or a ceiling; a different mechanism from the opt-in contribution discussed here.

Optional jackpot

A prize layer a customer opts into, with its own eligibility condition and, in the named product, its own addition to the selected stake.

Progressive

A prize pool that grows under its own published rules, as opposed to a fixed amount that does not grow.

Reset

What the terms say happens to the pool after an award.

RTP

Return to player: the share of stakes a game is designed to return over a very long run, stated per component or as a combined figure.

RTS

The Gambling Commission's remote gambling and software technical standards; RTS 9 covers progressive jackpot disclosure.

Seed

The value a pool starts from after an award; the reset figure the subtraction in the worked example never supplied.

Stake

The amount put at risk in a particular bet.

Turnover

The sum of stakes placed; distinct from deposits, losses and account balance.
